: Lane: (location requested) fair trade success with a couple glares ;)
Take the Starbucks Challenge!
I'll be posting the unblogged reports from participating challengers here :)
Lane reports about an experience requesting fair trade coffee at a local Starbucks:
This morning I went to a local Starbucks to participate in your challenge.
(luckily it wasn't terribly busy when I went in so I didn't back things up)
Me: Do you have any Fair Trade coffee brewed this morning
Clerk: No (pause, looks at list of coffees) No we don't
Me: OK, Thanks. Do you typically have some brewed
Clerk: Sometimes we do (pause) we could brew some up for you with a french press
Me: That'd be great, is it the same price?
Clerk: yes, it takes about 5 minutes looking at another clerk hoping
for confirmation)
Other Clerk: 4 minutes
Me: OK, I'd like to get some, Thanks
The clerk then had to run around the store trying to find some Fair
Trade beans. Of course at this point it got busy. She had to make a
phone call (Don't know to whom) then ground the beans and set up the
French Press. I received a few glares from the gals at the espresso
machine, nothing too serious though. Pretty much uneventful other than
causing them work above what they normally have to do, but I am just
taking them up on a service they provide. Next time, I might call
ahead to give them time to get started.
